A 19th Century School Maths Exercise Book and Pen

Record number:

Donated by Mr Chris Foulkes, from Christchurch in Dorset - this is what he wrote:

'Among the items inherited by my late wife after her grandparents passed on was this maths book and dip pen.  As you can see from the attached photo the book belonged to Thomas Edwin Davies and he has dated the first page May 4th 1863.

My wife's Grandparents were Sid and Dot Shelbrooke and they lived at 43, West Castle Street. Dot's maiden name was Davies and Sid ran a cycle shop in Listley Street - certainly in the 1970s when I first met them. Thomas Davies was Dot's father. The surname "Pembro" also had a family connection - digging deep in to my failing memory he may possibly have been Mayor of Bridgnorth at some point.'
