Northgate Museum is open from Easter until October every year. During this period, the museum is open on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday afternoons, and on Bank Holidays, 12:00pm - 3.30pm.

Is the museum open on public holidays?

We are open on Bank Holidays from Easter until October, from 12:00pm - 3:30pm. If you are planning a visit on a bank holiday, we recommend getting in touch with us in advance to confirm we will be open.

Are the opening times subject to change?

Occasionally, our opening times may change due to unforeseen circumstances or events. We try to provide as much notice as possible to visitors on our Facebook page. If you are planning a visit, we recommend checking our Facebook page or contacting us in advance to confirm our opening times.

Information

Bridgnorth Northgate Museum is situated above the Northgate of Bridgnorth in Shropshire, at the north end of the town’s High Street. There are plenty of ways to access the museum - by bus, car, on foot, or on the Severn Valley Railway.

Is there parking available at the museum?

We don't provide parking specifically for museum visitors. However, there are a number of public car parks within easy walking distance.

Admission

Information

Admission to Northgate Museum is completely free for all visitors. We are a volunteer run museum dedicated to preserving the history of Bridgnorth. Instead of charging an entry fee we ask visitors to make a small donation to the museum.

What is the cost to enter the museum?

The museum is completely free of charge to enter for all visitors.

Are there suggested donations or contributions that visitors can make?

We accept donations both online and at the museum. If you would like to make a secure donation online, you can do so by visiting our donation page here. If you prefer to make a cash donation, we can accept them at the museum itself.

Are there any restrictions on who can enter the museum?

There are no restrictions at all on who can enter the museum, and there is something at the museum to interest people of all ages. Please bear in mind however that the museum is not wheelchair accessible.
Friendly dogs are also welcome!

Information

We can provide a comprehensive guide to the surrounding area, including nearby restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a meal or refreshments. We also offer information on other amenities located within walking distance.

Are there toilet facilities at the museum?

We don't have toilets at the museum itself, however there are public toilets within easy walking distance of the museum. Our members of staff can give you directions to the nearest public facilities.

Is the museum accessible for visitors with disabilities?

We strive to make the museum accessible for everyone, however the museum is not wheelchair accessible. The entry to the museum involves walking up a steep set of steps which are not suitable for people with mobility disabilities.

Is there a café or restaurant on site?

We don't have our own cafe or restaurant, however our museum is located in the High Street - there are a number of great cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance of the museum. Our team will be more than happy to recommend somewhere you'll enjoy.
